Global Search
Q360 has a Global Search field that you may use to quickly locate Contacts, Customers, Invoice Numbers, Project Numbers, and NickNames. This field is located at the top left of the Q360 window upon User login, without opening any forms.
Secondary Global Search Method
There is a second Global Search access point located on the Main Action Bar at the top of your Q360 window.
- Click the magnifying glass icon on the Action Bar
- In the Global Search window that opens, type a Contact, Customer, Invoice Number, Project Number or NickName
- Items containing your search term will appear in a list below the search field. Click an item to open it.
- Note: this search window may be undocked and moved to another location. Right clicking on this window will display a list of options associated with this window including the ability to display search results in Grid View.
- Note: Resizing this search window while it is undocked and then re-docking it will leave the window at the resized dimensions. To resize smaller, click and drag the edge of the window to the desired size.
Quick Search
The Quick Search form may be accessed via File Menu > Quick Search
Form / Record Search Options
Each form in Q360 contains its own Quick Search field. The default search criteria for this field will be the Primary Key for that particular form. For example, on the Customer form, the default search criteria will be Company.
Change form Quick Search default search criteria:
- Click the Advanced Search icon next to the search criteria field
- In the pop up window that opens, click the ADD icon, select your new search criteria, then select a Custom Search name (or create new) using the drop down menu and click OK.
- To save this custom search criteria for later use on this same form, type a custom name in the drop down menu and click the SAVE icon
Temporarily override default search criteria:
- Open a form
- In the form Quick Search field, type ‘/’ (forward slash) and then whatever information you do have in lieu of the default search criteria. For example, if the default search criteria on the Customer form is Company, but you only have the Customer Number, you would type /somecustomernumber in the form Quick Search field.
Search All
All forms in Q360 have a “Search All” option which will return all records of a particular type.
- Open a form
- Do not type anything in the form Quick Search field, but click the magnifying glass icon inside the Quick Search field.
- All records of the same type as the form will be returned in a grid. You may further refine the results and / or drill into any single record.
- Note: you may want to consider checking or unchecking the “Active Only” checkbox depending on your needs for this search. Leaving this box unchecked will return ALL records of this type which may result in too many records to reasonably navigate. ACTIVE states are designated in General Codes.
Search Grid Appearance
All search grids will reflect any selections made in your User Preferences > Grids. See User Name Menu > User Preferences > Grids
Search within the Main Menu
The Main Menu contents on the left side of your screen may be searched using the Filter field at the top. Begin typing in this field to display a list of menu items that include your typed information. Click on the item you are looking for.
